Despite being a disadvantage, I strongly feel the disability of a person
must be clearly mentioned in a separate section ccalled "Disability" and
a proper description of it. Hiding it would make you guilty of
concealing a fact that is vital to the employee's judgement of you.
Since in some cases you may be the first disabled ccandidate to be
appearing for the job, hiding your disability would also imply you are
not comfortable about your disability, which would never leave you in a
stronger position to convince your potential employer that your
disability won't come in the way of your ability to perform. Besides if
you are not comfortable about it, the employee will have all the good
reasons of not feeling comfortable hiring you.
Hiding it is hardly going to help you, so mention it voluntarily and
show that you have done a good job of dealing with the ccondition
yourself. Surely some employees will see the logic of such an argument
and -with all your prowess with the PC and internet- may even think of
giving you a chance.

We recently had a discussion on whether we should disclose our
during the ongoing national census. I wish to know the members'
on disclosure of disability in job interviews in cases where there is no

1.. Whether we should disclose our disability in the CV sent to
prospective employers, job consultants or posted on various job portals?
2.. In case we decide to disclose our disability in the CV, where
it be disclosed? Assuming the CV has 4 sections - General Information,
Educational record, work experience & salary details, where should the
disability be disclosed & in what manner?
3.. In case we are called for a job interview, should we check in
whether the company will be willing to consider us inspite of our
disability? This query is more relevant in case we have not disclosed
disability in the CV since some blind friends who had not disclosed
blindness were refused permission even to appear for the interview when
reached the employer's office. Also, it has been observed that inspite
disclosing disability, interviewers tend to skip over the information &
are surprised when they realize the interviewee is blind.
