Nokia Displays Navigation Portfolio

widen the reach of its location-based services, Nokia
India today showcased its navigation devices
portfolio, and announced future plans in
this area. 

The company currently has five devices with integrated
GPS; the Nokia N95 and N95 8GB, Nokia N82, Nokia E90
Communicator, and Nokia 6110 Navigator. However,
all Nokia S60 and many Series 40 devices support GPS
via a Bluetooth wireless module. 

The latest addition to Nokia's devices with integrated
GPS is the Nokia 6110 Navigator, which comes with
fully integrated GPS navigation with a one-touch
Navigator key. The handset has local maps of eight
cities in India (Delhi and NCR, Jaipur, Ahmedabad,
Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad)
pre-installed on the memory card for immediate
navigation. Nokia claims that as of now, these maps
have locations and details of 75,000+ km of roads,
restaurants and hotels, and so on. 

The 6110 Navigator features full turn-by-turn 3D
navigation, and suggests the best route to follow to
reach a location either by car or on foot. It offers
clear instructions through voice guidance and turn
arrows on a map. Nokia claims its Navigator is ideal
for 3G multimedia and enabling of real-time video
sharing and video calls. 

Other features of the Navigator include: a 2 mega
pixels camera with dedicated capture key, panorama
mode, and integrated flash; 2.2-inches QVGA screen
offering up to 16 million colors; and push email. 

Meanwhile, the N95 and N95 8GB are also optimized for
enjoying videos, playing games, and locating favorite
destinations with A-GPS. With these devices,
users can whiz to their 'Nokia Maps' locations faster,
and access maps for over 50 countries. 

The N82 is again a multimedia computer optimized for
photography, navigation, and Internet connectivity.
Featuring A-GPS, the phone enables users to explore
their surroundings and find their way using navigation
and routing, document their experiences with the
phone's high quality imaging, and instantly share
their experiences with one click upload on the Web. 

Other features of the N82 include: 5 mega pixels
camera with powerful Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss
optics, 2GB microSD card, new 3D multimedia menu, and
support for the Ovi family of Nokia Internet services
that include the Nokia Music Store, N-Gage games, and
Nokia Maps. 

Whereas, E90 is the first GPS-enabled device from the
Nokia E Series portfolio, and offers onboard GPS along
with high-speed connectivity to allow consumers
search maps and navigate to desired locations. The E90
has a global positioning system (GPS) receiver, which
uses satellites to determine a user's location,
speed, and direction.
